Heavy week reading this week as I spent more time than usual on airplanes, so figured I would clear out the backlog.

Here’s this issue of “Deep Links”:

  • 10 Types of Odd Friendships You’re Probably Part Of — Tim Urban always has provocative and interesting takes on society, technology and the effects of things in between. In this one from 2014, he does a fascinating job of exploring different friendships you may have.

  • Anarchitecture: An Introduction to Anarchic Software Development — Forget DevOps, agile and test-driven design and welcome to the world of “developer anarchy” and “self-organizing teams”.

  • Maker’s Schedule, Manager’s Schedule — An interesting view on how to carve up the day on when you have time, and what time you are willing to compromise with disruptions.

  • 11 traits of unforgettable leaders — are you a leader, or just a “boss”? It’s a simple list of things that instill trust.

  • In Meetings, the concept of “Swiss cheese” calendars and the difficulty in getting real work done.

  • Why No-Code and Low-Code Software Is the Industry Disrupter You Should Pay Attention To — An interesting take; I’ve often joked that the evolution of DevOps is into “NoDevs”, and this article reflects on the “No-Code” nature of platforms like Zapier, IFTTT and Shortcuts. Event-based, activity flows are the future IMHO.

And finally, from the Podcast list:

  • When Setbacks are Your Biggest Training Asset — really have been enjoying the TRAINED series of Podcasts; this one is with the founder of OrangeTheory, Ellen Latham, and dives into “focus on positive”.
